Since ancient times, people have used objects to hold their intentions and prayers. Making and using Intention, Spirit or Prayer Sticks are a way to call in and communicate with the Divine. They are used in rituals, funeral observances, ceremonial celebrations, healing, protection, cleansing and blessing. To some folks they are a symbol of power, wisdom and healing. Much thought and reflection should go into the making of a Prayer Stick, which is why these workshops last 3-4 hours. The energy put into the stick, whether for healing, forgiveness, blessing, prosperity, etc., should be done mindfully and with the highest intentions. Symbols or prayers may be painted on the sticks and they are bound by the materials we wrap them with. Feathers, crystals, charms, beads and other meaningful adornments may also be attached.
